Don't overlook these!
Receiving E-Filed Refund:
You should receive a refund within about three weeks from the acknowledgment date; even faster with direct deposit.
Federal Telephone Excise Tax Refund:
According to five appeals courts, the federal government was improperly applying a 3% federal excise tax on long-distance telephone services.
The IRS agreed to refund the taxes paid on long-distance and wireless services, including interest, billed after February 28, 2003, and before August 1, 2006.
Your refund must be claimed on a 2006 tax return:
If you were not required to file a return for 2006, to get your refund, file Form 1040EZ-T.
Tip: Form 1040EZ-Some companies offer free e-filing of Form 1040EZ-T, Telephone Excise Tax Refund, for those who want to claim the refund credit but were not required to file a federal income tax return for 2006.
Although your tax professional can file your return electronically, you are still responsible for sending in the payment by the due date.
There are electronic payment options available or you can just mail in your payment.
